GREY WAGTAIL – SOLD however digital prints available on request.
The grey wagtail painting illustrates an elegant bird, spending much of its time on the waters’ edge, twitching its long tail as it hunts for insects. The male has a black throat and yellow underparts in summer. In winter the male is much duller and similar to the female. It is generally solitary and does not form large flocks like other wagtails.
The grey wagtail feeds predominantly on insects, also water beetles, dragonfly and other aquatic larvae, and some small fish.
This is an original watercolour grey wagtail painting on Fabriano artistico paper. It is window mounted on ivory, size 30 x 40 cms when mounted.
