This Blackcap painting shows a bulky but unobtrusive member of the warbler family. The female has a rust-red crown. Its song is a rich warble with many loud and variable notes, rivalling that of the Nightingale. It nests in bushes or small trees and lives on a variety of insects and their larvae, as well as fruit and berries when available.
This is an original watercolour painting on Fabriano artistico paper. It is window mounted on ivory, size 40 x 50 cms when mounted.
