This Robin painting is of the easily recognisable and frequently tame bird. It lives in woods hedgerows, parks and it frequently accompanies gardeners in its search for worms, insects. and their larvae, as well as spiders and centipedes, and seeds of weeds and often soft fruit. Males are aggressive and territorial and have been known to fight to the death.
Both sexes are very similar in appearance, with their brown upper parts and red forehead, face, chin and breast, whilst the young are mottled and barred in browns and buffs. The robin is most colourful in winter and has a characteristic melodious warble.
This is an original watercolour Robin painting on Fabriano artistico paper. It is window mounted on ivory, size 30 x 40 cms when mounted.
