Kingfisher original watercolour

SKU: KF1original Category:

The kingfisher painting illustrates the bird that is most commonly seen as a flash of iridescent blue speeding across water. To feed It uses its dagger-like bill to catch fish, which it kills and swallows head first, but also feeds on insects, crustaceans and worms.

The kingfisher is found in all types of fresh water, from ponds and canals to rivers and fast-flowing streams. In winter it resorts to brackish coastal waters and marshes. To breed It generally digs a long tunnel in the river bank to build its nest.

This is an original watercolour Kingfisher painting on Fabriano artistico paper. It is window mounted on ivory,  size 20 x 25 cms when mounted.
