REDWING
This redwing painting illustrates a bird that is an abundant winter visitor, it is like a small song thrush in colour but with bold creamy face streaks. The name comes from the wash of rust-red along the flanks and underwing. Its habitat is woods and scrub, often near water or even a large garden.
The redwing is a gregarious bird, in winter often forming large flocks with fieldfares and scouring the hedgerows and fields for berries, insects, worms and slugs.
This is an original watercolour painting on Fabriano artistico paper. It is window mounted on ivory, size 35 x 35 cms when mounted.
