Fieldfare original watercolour

SKU: FForiginal Category:

The fieldfare painting illustrates a large gregarious thrush which is a common winter visitor from Northern Europe. A dove-grey head and rump is separated by  a dark chestnut brown saddle on the back and wings. Its breast is a warm orange-brown, striped with black arrow shaped markings in a typical thrush pattern and the tail is black.

It frequents hedgerows, grassland and parks, forming quite large flocks and can be very noisy, keeping company with Redwings. The fieldfare is often enticed into gardens by fallen fruit but also eats berries, worms, insects and their larvae and spiders.

This is an original watercolour fieldfare painting on Fabriano artistico paper. It is window mounted on ivory,  size 30 x 40 cms when mounted.
